- Consultation with the client regarding the background of the criminal case and the purpose of the appeal;
- Collection and review of available case documents, including the judgment of the Court of First Instance;
- Review of complaints, charges, statements, evidence, hearing records, and other relevant documents;
- Analysis of the facts, evidence, legal issues, and findings of the Court of First Instance;
- Identification of possible errors of fact, errors of law, procedural irregularities, or other relevant grounds for appeal;
- Assessment of the strengths, weaknesses, risks, and possible outcomes of the appeal;
- Review of applicable Cambodian criminal laws and criminal procedures;
- Development of the overall legal strategy and position for the appeal;
- Preparation, review, or amendment of the appeal documents where necessary; and
- Consultation with the client regarding the proposed appeal strategy and next procedural steps.
